About Us

As a native of the sunshine state and graduate from the University of Florida, Lisa Neale knew this was where she and her family would eventually return to put down their roots. In 2020, she and her husband Paul made the decision to leave their corporate careers in Kentucky and relocate to embark on a new adventure in Florida. While searching for culinary classes for their 12-year-old son TJ, they happened upon Young Chefs Academy which turned out to be the perfect opportunity to launch their own business together in their new home state. Lisa and Paul are currently the proud owners of two Young Chefs Academy locations – Seminole/Clearwater and Wesley Chapel/Lutz bringing exciting programs to the greater Tampa area. As parents to five children, the Neale’s have always volunteered at school and sporting events realizing the fulfillment of coaching and mentoring children of all ages. “Owning a Young Chefs Academy is so exciting for us as we get to own a business doing what we love – cooking and teaching children an incredible life skill.’

Founder and CEO, Julie Burleson, established Young Chefs® Academy in 2003 with the vision of cultivating/serving children’s strong interest in the culinary arts. It has grown with locations throughout the US to be a welcoming environment that provides a “real” setting so that the students can take what they learn at YCA™ to their own homes.

“The kitchen is the pulse of the home… where we learn about life and each other,” says Burleson. “Young Chefs Academy nourishes those values and gives kids an innovative environment to learn and thrive. In this busy world, what could be better?”
